He was a cautionary tale against seeing things as black and people with a gloomy and distorted view of the world. His wife and son have now published a wonderful book after his death. It is Rosling's legacy. It proves that humanity worldwide has made great strides in the last 50 years. Prosperity for all, education, equality of opportunity have all grown in recent years. The message is clear: don't let populists and the media tell you that everything is getting worse. Despite population growth, progress is unstoppable.
