13th Symposium: How cracks in the social divide are deepening - or not. Many opinions, diverse cultures and the question of how we shape difficult discourses.
Impatiently awaited, the 13th symposium of the Denkwerkstatt took place on 16.11.2024 in the rooms of the Musikpark Mannheim. As always, in the tried-and-tested rhythm of keynote speeches and joint discussions.
Martina Nieswandt and Roland Geschwill were particularly looking forward to a very special guest this time: Prof. Bernhard Pörksen. Together with Friedemann Schulz von Thun, he had written about how we can communicate again in society. How do dialogues take shape in an age in which our own echo chambers are preferred?
In our view, culture and the art of talking to each other are closely linked and companies are always a reflection of society. Bernhard Pörksen's presentation was followed by a lively discussion about the ability to engage in dialog in business, society and politics. This was enriched by the perspective of Prof. Ines Geipel, who has already been a guest at Denkwerkstatt on several occasions.
Later in the day, there was another exciting round: Jochen Fischer from the Heidelberg-based company No Monkey provided information on the absolutely crucial topic of cybersecurity. It may not be immediately obvious, but the establishment of secure systems in organizations is also a question of corporate culture. In times of increasing attacks on sensitive computer systems, it is a MUST to deal with it.
And once again this year, we couldn't forget to take care of our physical well-being. The team from „Die Küche“ in the Musikpark spoiled us and our guests with oriental dishes and so we were able to start the next round invigorated.
Changing organizational cultures, but how? This is a question that we are asked time and again. As a consultant, you can talk a lot about this, but it's even better to discuss it with customers who have experienced it themselves. Martina Nieswandt and Roland Geschwill discussed practical approaches and examples of implementation together with Jörg Muns, HR Director of Init SE Karlsruhe and the Managing Directors of Utiligence, Roman Chrustowski and Thomas Marcon.
After a day full of inspiration and good discussions, the 13th symposium of the Denkwerkstatt unfortunately came to an end. And everyone is already looking forward to number 14.
