Angry White Men

Michael Kimmel, 2015

Angry White Men by Michael Kimmel, Orell Füssli, 2015. The portrait of white rage citizens in the USA. Written in 2013, this highly readable book is a successful analysis of the rising national populist movements around the world. It uses the example of white American men in the U.S. since 1970 to show how they mentally process their own economic exploitation. In 1978, a U.S. family man earned about $55,000 a year. In 2018, the average income is the same, except that both husband and wife work full time. Michael Kimmel has been around the scene of white American men and describes their rage against women and minorities. Anyone who wants to understand the merger of AFD and Pegida in eastern Germany today needs to know this highly readable analysis.
