He was China's first lobbyist, founding the Maoist splinter party KPD/Ml in the early 1970s and advising business bosses such as Wolf von Amerongen and Berthold Beitz. At the same time, he promoted China in West German youth camps with the Mao Bible.
His biography illustrates the naivety of German business leaders who promote the political system in China as well as the hypocrisy of former SPD chairmen such as Rudolf Scharping, Gerhard Schröder and Sigmar Gabriel, the new ambassadors for China in Germany.
